I.BackgroundTechnical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has been serving as a pillar for the post-pandemic economic recovery, meeting the demand for young professionals skilled and fully prepared for the labor market. International cooperation and exchanges of vocational education and skills development have then become a must at present to comprehensively improve the quality of TVET. Such concept has been attached much importance and well demonstrated in BRICS leaders "Xiamen Declaration", "Johannesburg Declaration", "Brasilia Declaration", "Moscow Declaration" and "New Delhi Declaration". In order to continue implementing the concept, a platform of strengthening partnerships and exchanges on TVET for vocational institutions and enterprises in BRICS is necessary.
Against this backdrop, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China will initiate and organize 2022 BRICS Skills Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition). As a platform for TVET exchanges in BRICS, the Competition is dedicated to facilitating the acquisition of skills and competencies by young professionals, as well as enriching the cooperation between vocational institutions and enterprises, aiming to promote the quality development of vocational education in BRICS.
II.IntroductionThe Competition will kick off in late March, and close in November. Kick-off Competition, Training Camps and Final Competition will be comprised in virtual and offline formats. Around 20 competing skills will be set in the Competition (please refer to Annex for specific competing skills list), centering on fields including intelligent manufacturing technical skills, artificial intelligence technical skills, digital technical skills, etc. TVET institutions students and teachers from BRICS are all welcome and expected to level up their capabilities regarding innovation, coordination, organization, and collaboration via participating in the Competition.
